Macworld tested the fusion drive (ssd flash drive + hard drive) in one of the new Mac mini models. The result: it’s about as fast as Phil Schiller said in the last Apple special event. Besides the numbers in Macworld’s article, this video posted by TechfastLunch&Dinner shows what that kind of speed and performance really […]

Video of the Apple Special Event, Sep 2012
Apple posted the streaming video of today’s Special Event where it announced the iPhone 5 and new iPod models. You can watch it here. — I’ll update this post when Apple releases a video podcast version of the event. Update: The video is now available as a Podcast on the iTunes Store. You can get it here in different […]
iPad Keyboards Round-up
Ellis Hamburger at The Verge has put up a nice round-up of keyboards for the iPad. Check the video below for insightful tidbits and quick reviews of the keyboards. I like the proposition of the Incase Origami Workstation — a great case and stand tailored for the Apple wireless keyboard. It is a great example of how a third-party accessory maker […]
WWDC 2012 Keynote Video Available
Apple has posted a streaming video of the keynote event that took place a few hours ago on its Worldwide Developers Conference at Moscone Center, San Francisco. Apple is getting faster in this video posts. Lots of stuff announced at the keynote. Not time for everything, so the Mac Pro was silently updated on Apple’s official product page.
Efficient compression in iTunes 1080p video
The new 1080p iTunes video files show better quality overall than 720p ones and not that much increase in file size, despite increased compression. This is due to improved decoding in Apple’s latest chips. From the Ars Technica article: This means that the increased 1080p resolution breaks compatibility with everything older than the iPhone 4S anyway, […]

Apple Media Event, March 2012
New iPad with retina display (2048 by 1536 pixels) with better colors, A5X (dual-core) processor with quad-core graphics, 5 megapixels iSight camera, 1080p recording, voice dictation (just a taste, not the full Siri experience), 10-hour battery life (same as the iPad 2) and… 4G LTE models (at the same price of previous models) → iPad 2 still on […]
And touch.
Since the Apple invitation for today’s media event reached the public eye, the last written bit has always struck me as odd. I’m not in favour of reading too much into these invitations, but they have carried hints (in previous events) about what subject is going to be approached on stage. «And touch.» it says. […]
Samsung’s “Street Challenge”
Unbelievably misleading and unfair ad (video →) for the Samsung Galaxy Note pits a coached Android user against an iPhone user (that, I’d say, seems a beginner one or even a newcomer to the world of smartphones). On the beginning of the ad it says: We gave Android users just a few hours to play with the new Samsung Galaxy […]
