Apple’s Fusion Drive Performance

Macworld tested the fusion drive (ssd flash drive + hard drive) in one of the new Mac mini models. The result: it’s about as fast as Phil Schiller said in the last Apple special event. Besides the numbers in Macworld’s article, this video posted by TechfastLunch&Dinner shows what that kind of speed and performance really […]

WWDC 2012 Keynote Video Available

Apple has posted a streaming video of the keynote event that took place a few hours ago on its Worldwide Developers Conference at Moscone Center, San Francisco. Apple is getting faster in this video posts. Lots of stuff announced at the keynote. Not time for everything, so the Mac Pro was silently updated on Apple’s official product page.

WWDC 2012 — the pre-show

In a few hours, the Apple keynote will kick-start a week tailored for developers working on Apple’s platforms. It will be the first WWDC keynote after Steve Jobs’ passing. From what we’ve seen, the ‘speakers’ team headed by Tim Cook knows how to deliver a good presentation while keeping Apple’s cultural values in place. Intriguing this year is […]

OS X 10.8: Enter the Mountain Lion

Out of the blue, at least for most of us, Apple announces a sneak peek of (Mac) OS X 10.8 code-named ‘Mountain Lion’. I suggest reading John Gruber’s article on the new operating system, on how Apple understands the differences between point-&-click and touch interfaces (and… on how Apple PR and Marketing put up a mini-Apple event just for one). Apple […]

OS X Lion released

A few minutes ago, Apple has launched OS X Lion on the Mac App Store. It has a price tag of $29.99 / 23.99€ / £20.99. To my knowledge this is the first time a computer operating system is released exclusively online without physical media available (check update on this below). During the following days we’ll see how well […]

OS X Lion: Absolutely Nothing

My thoughts on the WWDC announcements have been postponed quite often due to other affairs, and, while writing had started, they never made it to the blog. Since OS X Lion is rumoured to be released this week, here’s another chance to present my take on Lion as shown at the WWDC Keynote. This article doesn’t try to […]

A Long Keynote?

Earlier in the year, Apple had “hinted” that there would be no hardware announcements on WWDC. Two main subjects were on the table — Mac OS X Lion and iOS 5 — but today Apple officially added a third one. The rumored iCloud service is indeed going to be presented to common mortals next week. It’s interesting that […]
